The Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland (FIMM), Helsinki Biomedical Graduate Program (HBGP) and National Graduate School of Clinical Investigation (CLIGS/VKTK) at the University of Helsinki welcome participants in the first symposium of the new Building Bridges series providing an exciting team-oriented look into biobanking in clinical and translational research. The Building Bridges series is aimed to highlight team efforts among clinicians and biomedical and molecular medical researchers working toward a better understanding of the pathophysiology of disease and improved options for patient treatment and care.
This inaugural symposium is arranged to bridge the clinic with basic and translational research with a spotlight on research involving biobanking. The symposium will guide participants through essential aspects of biobanking including the Finnish biobanking law, ethics, and infrastructure opportunities and challenges as well as provide numerous examples of research using biobanking. The first day consists of presentations by clinician/researcher teams and students working in translation projects. During the second day participants will have the opportunity participate in a tour of the Meilahti Integrated Biobank Infrastructure (MIBI).
The symposium is open to the entire scientific community, and students will have the opportunity to earn credits for their participation.
Venue: Lecture Hall 2, Biomedicum, Helsinki, Finland.
